Mary Kay beauty items

Mary Kay Cosmetics Review

When I first started wearing makeup the products I used were from Mary Kay. I feel like you probably start out wearing products that your mom wears or at least back in day that is what we usually did. Yikes! I will try not to age myself but who am I kidding I have been wearing makeup for right around 10 years. Even though it was probably just lip gloss and powder in the beginning. ;) I remember going to Mary Kay parties with my mom and finally getting to pick out a few of my own for the first time.

I will admit I haven't tried out any new Mary Kay products in a long while so I was excited to be able to be apart of Influenster's Glamour Look Voxbox. My initial impression, wow they have stepped up their game.

Here are the things that came in the Starlet On-The-Go Kit:

Mary Kay Lash Love Lengthening - I Heart Black - $15.00
Mary Kay Cream Eye Color - Violet Storm - $22.00
Mary Kay Cream Eye Color/Concealer Brush - $10.00
Mary Kay True Dimensions Lip Stick - Pink Cherie - $18.00
Mary Kay Lash Primer - $15.00

Mary Kay Cosmetics Review: Cream Eye Shadow: Violet Storm

Mary Kay Cosmetics Review: True Dimensions Lip Stick: Pink Cherie

My thoughts on the products:

Lash Primer: I'll be honest with you I think lash primers are a waste of money. If you have a good mascara you don't need them. Needless to say I didn't think this primer was anything special.

Mascara: I really liked this mascara. It went on smoothly with no clumping. It also does as it says, it made them look extra long. The brush shape is nice too. It is thicker in the middle and thinner on the edges allowing me to get to all my lashes without smearing it all around and having to really be super careful. If you are looking for a new mascara I give this one a thumbs up.

Cream Eye Color: Cream eye colors have been one of my favorite products for the past couple of years and Mary Kay has a great one. It went on like butter and super easy to blend out. It dried quick but not too quick that you couldn't blend the product and after a smudge test didn't budge at all. They have 9 colors to choose from and I think they are pretty much all shimmer colors. If you are not into shimmer these may not be the product for you. If you are a purple wearer the violet storm is gorgeous! I give the cream color eye shadows 2 thumbs up and I will definitely be checking out more of these.

Cream Eye Brush: This brush is really well made. When I first saw it I was like, "they want me to put cream eye shadow on with that" but it went on great. It surprised me to say the least. I thought it was going to be a clingy, hard to apply mess with this brush. The brush is a little firm but overall a great cream shadow brush.

Lip Stick: This would probably be a con for some people because it could be annoying but the lipstick snaps into the lid. I actually love it. Once I figured out how to open it I thought the concept was great. It prevents your lipstick lid from sliding off while in your bag. Which can easily happen. The pink Cherie is a super pretty color. It was moisturizing which was great and didn't leave any sticky residue. They have 10 shades in this true dimensions collection.

Overall I really liked all of these products. I wasn't overly impressed with the lash primer but to be honest I'm not overly impressed with any lash primer. The only cons I have with the eye color and lip stick is the prices. There are some great drugstore dupes to these products that cost 50% less. I would give all of these products as a whole 4 stars. The products are great but the pricing is a little expensive. However, you can usually get some pretty good discounts at Mary Kay parties to makeup for the expense. No pun intended. ;)
